Summary: “Innovation at your company should not be a mere after thought or something that your company feels is not part of the bottom line. If your business is not innovating in the technology driven 21st Century your company will die.”

1. Scour the web for marketplaces and industries that are not in your line of business. Discover ideas that these other industries are using effectively and bring them into your own industry and become a innovator in the process. Innovation does not require “Invention”. Someone else could of invented the technique, strategy, or what have you but as long as you are the 1st to do it in “your industry” successfully you will get the due credit deserved. Check this out, Barry Gordy of the MOTOWN record label in Detroit, Michigan back in the 60′s  took knowledge he acquired while working at the FORD motor company plant and used it to revolutionize the Music Industry forever. Gordy gets full credit for that in the books, not Henry Ford. Henry Ford gets credit for bringing the innovation to the automobile and is only a footnote in Barry Gordy’s bio.

2. See the End product or service with the results in mind. Take a page out of Steve Jobs book (APPLE)

3. Conduct fast prototyping by getting with someone who has the same innovation as the Chinese are using for product 3D modeling and rapid market growth. I would only seek a US company in this regards, because if you give innovations to someone in China and you don’t have the logistics they can start mass producing & selling your product in the marketplace underground and you will lose Millions in the process. Think about the ramifications of international dealings when just getting started from all angles.

4. Encourage & Foster the theme of innovation in the company’s culture. The GOOGLEPLEX offers Google’s employees plenty of space, time, and money to come up with new wacky, innovative, cool ideas. Innovation at Google as is with APPLE is a driving force not an after thought.

5. Create a community where consumers can play a role in testing, product research and development across the board. Some companies are making this process transparent on Facebook using pages to offer the customers the ability to “LIKE” new products as images or media is uploaded to their FaceBook pages. Some companies may want to gather this data and keep it private. It’s all on you.
